Sokkyō was an improvised music project that we carried out together with Heine Christensen between 2014 and 2016 of which this only work survives, originally released on cassette by Dauw label in Belgium, which invited us on two occasions to play live at some festivals in said country. I hope you like it as much as I do, since it was a process of learning how to play this type of music live and with someone like Heine who had already released several albums of the genre and who is still making great records under the pseudonym Ghost and Tape.

Sokkyō are:
Ciro Berenguer on electric and acoustic guitar, loopers, signal processing, found objects, xylophone, e-bow, field recordings.

Heine Christensen on loopers, effect chains, Op-1, found objects, acoustic laptop, lap harp.

"The songs on this album are all recorded live improvisations. Sounds, melodies and textures were all captured in the moment with both musicians performing together in the studio. Slight processing occurred after the recordings but the songs truly represent the moments in which they were created. Taking the shapes of small sonic stories, the improvisations were inspired by field recordings by Ciro representing both personal and geographically important places. Using various techniques, an elaborate compiling of tracks, constantly changing and degrading, was made possible due to very personalised equipment. Sokkyō is a japanese word that means, playing music without planning. We hope you enjoy."
