Estas dos piezas provienen de dos largas improvisaciones que realizamos en 2018 Stjin Huwels y yo. La primera fue seleccionada para participar en un festival de música experimental en Barcelona y la segunda es un extracto de la grabación en directo que realizamos en dicho festival ese mismo año. Como las dos caras de una moneda, una refleja lo que preparamos a la distancia mezclando nuestras guitarras en una larga pieza sin edición posterior, ya que el requerimiento de admisión pedía que el largo fuera de las menos 30 minutos y que el audio reflejara lo que planeábamos presentar.

La otra cara es el resultado en directo, donde pudimos recrear desde cero algunas de esta ideas de cómo dos músicos que gustan del género ambient y el minimalismo pueden imaginar este nicho aún más pequeño de la música experimental que es el drone. La idea que nos propusimos fue llevar a la audiencia que escuchaba literalmente a oscuras, a un viaje introspectivo, a esa difusa frontera entre el sueño y la vigilia. Así que si te duermes escuchado, decididamente lo consideraremos un halago.

These two pieces come from two long improvisations that we carried out in 2018. The first one was selected to take part in an experimental music festival here Barcelona, and the second is an excerpt from the live recording we made at that festival the same year. Like the two sides of a coin, one reflects what we prepared working at distance by mixing our guitars into a long piece without further editing, since the admission requirement was that the length of the track should be at least 30 minutes and that the audio had to reflect what we have planned to present live.

The flip side is the live result, where we were able to recreate from scratch some of these ideas of how two musicians who like ambient music and minimalism can imagine this even smaller niche of experimental music that is drone. The idea that we proposed was to take the audience that was listening literally in the dark, on an introspective journey, to a blurred border between being awake and dreaming. So if you fall asleep listening to it, we will definitely consider it a compliment!
